Hanging canopy installation: ceiling height, hoop and drop
How our 65 cm hoop, 280 cm hanging canopies behave in rooms with different ceiling heights, and what the mounting kit includes.
Written by the Olyo team. Updated .

Our hanging canopies have a 65 cm metal hoop and a 280 cm drop, and come with hooks, screws and anchors for ceiling mounting. In a room with a 250 cm ceiling, about 30–40 cm gathers on the floor; at 290 cm the hem ends near the floor. The canopy can be shortened to order.
What is in the box
Each hanging canopy is supplied with the tulle canopy, a 65 cm metal hoop that holds it open, and ceiling mounting hardware: hooks, screws and anchors. Decorations shown in photographs are sold separately.
How the 280 cm drop works with your ceiling
The drop is measured from the hoop to the hem. The table below shows roughly where the hem ends when the hoop hangs just below the ceiling; the hook adds a few centimetres.
| Ceiling height | Approximate result |
|---|---|
| 240 cm | About 40–50 cm of tulle gathers on the floor |
| 250 cm | About 30–40 cm gathers on the floor |
| 270 cm | About 10–20 cm gathers on the floor |
| 290 cm or higher | The hem ends at or near the floor |
Choosing the position
Hang the canopy above a reading cushion, a play corner or the head of a bed. Fix the hook into a joist where possible, or use anchors suited to the ceiling material.
Keep ties and decorations out of reach of babies and young children, and do not use the canopy as a support for anything else.
Shortened or custom drops
For low ceilings, shop displays or rental set-ups, canopies can be made with a shorter drop as a custom order.
