Labels, care labels and packaging for private label
Woven brand labels, care and content labels, hang tags and packaging for private-label kids’ textiles, and the labelling rules buyers ask about.
Written by the Olyo team. Updated .

A private-label textile usually carries a woven brand label, a care and content label, and sometimes a hang tag, plus retail packaging. What the care label must show depends on the market. The EU and US both require fibre content, and the US also requires country of origin and a seller identity.
The label set
| Item | Purpose | Typical content |
|---|---|---|
| Woven brand label | Your brand on the product | Logo or name |
| Care and content label | Legal and care information | Fibre composition, care symbols, origin, batch |
| Hang tag | Retail information | Product name, size, barcode |
| Packaging | Protection and presentation | Bag, box or fabric bag with your branding |
What markets ask for
In the EU, textile products must show their fibre composition using the names set out in the EU Textile Regulation. In the US, the FTC’s textile rules require fibre content, country of origin and the identity of the manufacturer or seller, and the Care Labeling Rule covers care instructions. Kids’ products sold in the US also need tracking information. Check the current rules for your products with your compliance adviser.
Planning the artwork
Send label and packaging artwork early: woven labels and printed packaging have their own production time.
