Importing kids’ textiles into the US from Turkey
What a US retailer or online seller needs to import children’s canopies, play tents and textiles from Turkey: customs entry, the end of de minimis, CPSIA certificates and tracking labels, and textile labelling.

Every commercial shipment into the US now goes through customs entry: the duty-free de minimis exemption has been suspended for all countries since 29 August 2025. Children’s products need a Children’s Product Certificate based on third-party testing and tracking labels, and textiles need fibre, origin and seller labelling.
Customs entry and duties
Classify each product under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, which sets the duty rate. US duty rates and additional tariffs have changed often, so check the current rate for your codes before you price a product. A licensed customs broker usually files the entry for you as importer of record.
No more de minimis
Since 29 August 2025, goods of all countries are no longer eligible for the duty-free de minimis exemption for shipments valued at 800 dollars or less. Small orders shipped by courier now need entry and duties too, so include them in your landed cost.
Children’s products and toys
| Requirement | Applies to | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) | Products designed primarily for children 12 and under | Issued by the importer, based on tests by a CPSC-accepted laboratory, and accompanying each shipment |
| Tracking labels | Children’s products | Permanent marks on the product and packaging with production date, place and batch |
| ASTM F963 | Toys for children under 14, such as play tents | The mandatory US toy-safety standard |
| Textile labelling (FTC) | Textile products | Fibre content, country of origin and the manufacturer or dealer identity |
Who issues the certificate
For products made outside the US, the importer issues the Children’s Product Certificate, based on passing test results from a CPSC-accepted laboratory. Plan which samples go to the laboratory before production, and keep the certificate for each shipment.
How we work with you
Tell us the products and quantities for the US early. We share the test reports we hold, plan testing with your laboratory, apply tracking information and labels as agreed, and supply commercial invoices and packing lists.
This guide is a practical overview, not legal or customs advice. Rules depend on the exact product and its customs code and they change, so confirm the current position with the official sources below, your customs broker or a compliance adviser.
Questions
Can I still ship small orders duty-free?
No. Since 29 August 2025 the duty-free de minimis exemption is suspended for goods of all countries, so small commercial shipments need entry and duties too.
Who writes the Children’s Product Certificate?
The importer, for products made outside the US. It must be based on passing tests by a CPSC-accepted laboratory and accompany each shipment.
