Preparing kids’ textiles for Amazon FBA: packing, labels and documents
How to get canopies, play tents, playhouses and bed curtains ready for an Amazon fulfilment centre: poly bags, barcode labels, cartons, and the documents kids’ products need.
Written by the Olyo team. Updated .

Amazon expects FBA inventory to arrive ready to sell: each unit packed to its prep rules, with a scannable barcode, in labelled cartons. For kids’ products, Amazon can also ask for compliance documents, such as a Children’s Product Certificate in the US. Agree the packing and labels with your supplier before production.
Plan the prep before production
Amazon has announced that it no longer offers prep and item-labelling services for US FBA shipments from 1 January 2026, so units have to arrive already prepared. Even where a service exists, preparing at source is usually simpler and avoids units being refused at check-in.
Decide with your supplier who applies which label, which bag each product goes in, and how many units go in each carton, and put it in the quotation.
What a fulfilment-ready unit usually needs
Amazon publishes its packaging and prep requirements in Seller Central, and they change. These are the points sellers of soft textile products most often have to plan for:
- A barcode that can be scanned: your FNSKU label, or a manufacturer barcode if your listing uses one
- A clear poly bag for textiles that could get dirty or snag. Amazon’s published rules include a minimum bag thickness, a fully sealed bag, and a suffocation warning on bags with larger openings
- Sets kept together: a tent, its mat and banner packed so they arrive as one unit
- Cartons within Amazon’s size and weight limits, each with its shipment label
How our products pack
| Product | What travels together | Ask us about |
|---|---|---|
| Hanging canopy | Tulle canopy, metal hoop and ceiling hardware | Bag size and carton count |
| Teepee play tent | Cover, wooden poles, floor mat, and the set extras | Pole length in the box and set packing |
| Playhouse | Aluminium frame, cotton cover and floor mat | Carton size and weight |
| Kura bed curtain | Curtain panels and hanging hardware | Flat-pack bag size |
Documents for kids’ products
In the US, products designed primarily for children 12 and under need a Children’s Product Certificate based on testing by a CPSC-accepted laboratory, plus tracking labels. Amazon may ask to see these documents before a listing goes live, or later in a compliance review.
In the EU, products need an economic operator established in the EU under the General Product Safety Regulation, and the listing must show the product and contact information that regulation requires. Selling packaged goods to consumers in Germany also needs a packaging registration (LUCID).
How we work with you
Send your marketplace, destination fulfilment centre and its prep rules with your order. We pack to the agreed requirements and apply the labels you supply.
This guide is a practical overview, not legal or customs advice. Rules depend on the exact product and its customs code and they change, so confirm the current position with the official sources below, your customs broker or a compliance adviser.
Questions
Can you apply our FNSKU labels?
Yes. Send the label files with your order and we apply them to each unit as agreed in the quotation.
Do play tents count as children’s products?
Play tents are designed for children’s play, so they are generally treated as children’s products and toys. Plan the testing and documents your marketplace and market require before launch.
